This Memorial Day weekend, Buffalo First! brings you a unique musical experience. Indiesound is a new event that showcases local musicians while reconnecting Western New Yorkers with Buffalo’s unique neighborhoods and the independent businesses within them. Buffalo First! could think of no better place to celebrate indiesound’s inaugural year than Allentown, a district with a rich artisanal community and diverse restaurants, shops, bars, services and galleries.
Presented in collaboration with The Good Neighborhood, indiesound in Allentown begins with a free concert/mixer featuring Workingman’s Dead at DBGB’s (253 Allen St, 6:00-10:00pm) and an after-party in the newly-opened back room of Allen Street Hardware Café (245 Allen, 10:00pm-1:00am, $3) on Friday, May 27th, with FudgyChewy and Erie Lackawanna Railroad. The main extravaganza begins on Saturday, May 28th, with local bands and artists playing sets in various businesses on and near Allen Street from 12:00-2:00pm and 3:00-5:00pm. From Main Street to Wadsworth and everywhere in between, explore the eclectic businesses of Allentown while enjoying the vibrant Buffalo music scene. To honor the spirit of Memorial Day weekend, Buffalo First! will also host a used book fair complete with slam poetry performances right on Allen Street at 2:00pm.

Reimers Country-Punk Extravaganza, and a giant raffle with chances to win prizes from your favorite Allentown businesses.
“We are incredibly passionate about the arts and their power to enrich, enliven, and generate revenue for our community,” said Buffalo First Executive Director Sarah Bishop. “We understand the importance of supporting our local artists, and as the arts are under continued fiscal attack, we are taking it upon ourselves to bring more awareness to local musicians and simultaneously to our unique independent businesses, garnering the support they need to exist and thrive from within our own community. Our hope is to bring visitors from both within city limits and across Western New York into the historic, eclectic, and vibrant Allentown business district.”
