Song of the Day – Daniel Ross Band, “I’ve Got to Use My Imagination” (Gladys Knight & the Pips cover)

By Seamus Gallivan

With rain and wind literally blowing the roofs off of some buildings near downtown Buffalo today, it doesn’t seem like a great night to present live music outdoors by the waterfront at the Liberty Hound – so we’re using our imaginations in order to let the show go on, moving the Daniel Ross Quartet under the sturdy roof of the Hound’s older sibling, the Blue Monk (727 Elmwood Ave, 10pm).

Although Ross hasn’t rounded up the entire cast seen in the video below from a recent gig, we’re told ringers are in the mix and able to fit inside the front room of the Monk. Check out Ross on guitar as one of his ringers, Michael King, sings a #1 Hot Soul hit from 1974 by Gladys Knight & the Pips, along with the same Joe Henderson instrumental that the Brownman Electryc Trio played at the Hound last night…onward we march to the Monk!
