By Kerry Alsheimer, Community Relations Coordinator, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Erie County
BBBSEC is excited to announce our second annual event, Women Who Move the City, to recognize and celebrate women in the Buffalo area who positively impact the lives of others by volunteering their time – not only as Big Sister mentors in our organization, but also for various other charitable endeavors throughout the community.
The event will take place on Thursday, April 30th 2015, at Hotel Lafayette from 5:30-8:30PM, and will feature a one-of-a-kind shopping experience as well as demonstrations and food tastings from local businesses. It is a great opportunity to meet other volunteers in Western New York who make our community thrive! Tickets are $40 ($45 at the door), include 2 hours of open bar, hors d’oeuvres, a swag bag and a chance to win a door prize. All proceeds will benefit BBBSEC, in our mission to continue to professionally screen and match volunteer mentors with the population of Buffalo kids facing adversity.
BBBSEC is currently calling for nominations of women who donate their time to make Buffalo a better place. If you know someone who deserves to be recognized for her efforts, please fill out our survey. Deadline for nominations is Friday, February 20th, 2015. Winners will be notified via phone and email by Friday, March 6th, 2015, and will be given one complimentary ticket to the event on April 30th.
Last year’s honorees include Mary Lynn Barnhard, Lindsay Brick, Sheila Figel, Kathleen Maxian & Nadia Moore.
Please save the date and plan to join us in celebrating these incredible Women Who Move the City!
