By Amy Patten, Volunteer Services and Marketing Intern, Journey’s End Refugee Services
Join Journey’s End Refugee Services (JERS) for a night of food and fun! In celebration of their 30th anniversary, JERS will be hosting their inaugural Global Gala on Friday, April 17th, at the Foundry Suites on Elmwood. The event will feature an auction and a 50/50 raffle. Dinner will be served at the Gala with the opportunity to try desserts from other cultures. During dinner, guests will be able to enjoy programming such as traditional Burmese dances.
Hosting the Global Gala are two well-known Buffalonians – Ginger Geoffery and Mark Kelso. Ginger Geoffery received the Television Anchor of the Year Award in 2012 for her work at WKBW-TV, and is currently The Vice President of Client Relations at The Mac Group. Mark Kelso is a former professional football player who played his entire eight-season career as a safety on the Buffalo Bills. Kelso is currently a color analyst for Bills game broadcasts.
The Global Gala will assist JERS in raising critical funds needed for agency programs. JERS exists to provide refugees with the resources and support they need to become successful, active and contributing members of the Western New York Community. Journey’s End currently has programs involving refugee resettlement, youth and adult education, refugee employment, agricultural training, microenterprise, immigration and legal services, and interpretation services, among others.
